    1. SAINA NEHWAL

    The former World no. 1, Saina Nehwal is an Indian, Hisar- based professional badminton player with over 24 International titles. With a phenomenal career record of 433 wins, Nehwal has set her mark to be the only Indian to win at least one medal in every BWF major individual event. By bringing a bronze medal to her country in the Olympics of 2012, she became the first Indian Badminton player to win an Olympic medal. Considered as one of the most charitable athletes, in the year 2016, the Government of India honored her with the Padma Bhushan Award.

    2. OM PRAKASH JINDAL

    Born in Hisar, Haryana, Om Prakash Jindal, was the founder chairman of the successful enterprise Jindal Steel and Power. The latest Forbes list enlists his name as the 13th richest Indian. Successively winning thrice in the Hisar Legislative Assembly seat, he served as a member of the civil supplies, committee of food and public distribution during the year 1996-1997. In February 2005, he became the minister of Power in the Government of Haryana and lost his life in a helicopter crash a month later. For his excellent contribution to the Indian industry of steel, Jindal was conferred with the prestigious ‘Life Time Achievement Award’ in the year 2004.

    3. SAVITRI JINDAL

    The only Indian whose name made it to the Forbes’ list of Billionaire Politicians, Savitri Jindal is the proud chairperson of the Jindal Group, after the passing away of her husband, Om Prakash Jindal. With the reputation of being the richest woman in India, she served as the cabinet minister in the Haryana Government in the year 2013. The proud mother of 9 children, she has a rank of 7 on the list of the World’s richest mothers. In 2008, she received the Acharya Tulsi kartritva Puraskar.

    4. SUBHASH CHANDRA GOENKA

    Born and raised in the district of Hisar, Subhash Chandra Goenka is the founder of Zee TV and also the chairman of the Essel Group. He launched India’s first Satellite TV channel in 1992, with the launching of India’s second private commercial Television Channel, Zee TV. In 2003, he became the first person to give India its first Satellite television provider, Dish TV. To challenge the well established daily paper, ‘The Times of India’, Subhash Chandra Goenka released an English language daily newspaper called the DNA in collaboration with the Dainik Bhaskar Group in 2005. He won the International Emmy Directorate Award in 2011 and 2016, he got elected to the upper house of the Indian Parliament of Haryana.

    5. B K GOENKA

    B K Goenka is an Indian entrepreneur from Hisar background, who is the chairman of the Welspun Group. He is the largest shareholder and also the co-promoter of the companies Welspun India Limited, which is one of the biggest home textile producers in the world, and Welspun Corp Limited, which holds the 2nd rank in being the largest manufacturer of large diameter pipes in the World. Also served as the President of ASSOCHAM- An organization representing the trade and commerce interest in India, he is married to Dipali Goenka and has two daughters.

    6. YASH PAL SHARMA

    An Indian Theatre artist and a big Bollywood actor, Yashpal Sharma made his debut on the big screen in the year 1998 with the Govind Nihalani’s film ‘ Hazaar Chaurasi ki Maa’, alongside Jaya Bacchan. The same year, he also appeared in commercial films like ‘Shool’ and ‘Arjun Pandit’. The Academic- Award-nominated film called ‘Lagaan’ alongside Amir Khan brought him to the limelight in 2001, and thereafter he got the chance to appear in several big films like Gangajal and hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi, which earned him the biggest fame. Apart from films, he appeared in a few television series, some short films and recent years he is also doing web series like ‘Your Honor’ and ‘ PariWar’. In 2016, he won an award at the Whatashort Independent International Film Festival for his role in the shot film- Moksha.

    7. POOJA DHANDA

    An Indian Hisar- based wrestler, Pooja Dhanda won the silver medal in the Summer Youth Olympics of 2010. In 2013, she made her debut in the National Championship, and defeated Babita Phogat, in the finals. By 2017, Pooja Dhanda became the titleholder of winning all of the four senior National Championships. She won a bronze medal in the World Championship of 2018, followed by winning a silver medal in the Commonwealth Games, the same year.

    8. PANDIT JASRAJ

    With a phenomenal music career of 75 years, Pandit Jasraj was an Indian Classical Vocalist from Hisar, who became both National as well as international fame. Making his stage debut as a vocalist at the age of 22, in the court of the former king of Nepal, Tribhuvan Bir Bikram Shah. Known for presenting varieties of rare and difficult ragas, He has done some notable works to popularise the cultural innovations of semi-classical music. One of the rare gems of the classical music industry, Pandit Jasraj has been honored with the Padma Shri Award in 1975, followed by the Padma Bhushan Award and then Padma Vibushan Award in 1990 and the year 2000.

    9. AANCHAL MUNJAL

    Another Hisar- based Indian television and film actor, who started her career as a child actor. Appeared in both Hindi and Tamil films, Aanchal’s made her first appearance as a child actress in the television series named ‘Dhoom Machao Dhoom’, in the year 2007, followed by playing the role of Chunni in the television series called ‘Ghost Bana Dost’ in 2010. With Karan Johar’s film, ‘We Are Family’, she made her big breakthrough in the Bollywood industry alongside Kareena Kapoor Khan and Arjun Rampal. Followed by this, she did few more Bollywood films and one Tamil film in the year 2018. In 2012, she won the Indian Telly Award for Best Child Artist for her role in Parvarrish- kuchh khattee kuchh Meethi.

    10. RAJU PUNJABI

    One of the most famous Indian singer and POP composer, Raju Punjabi’s origin land is too Hisar. Famous for Haryanvi pop songs, he has to date released more than 30 original songs of his and has also worked with artists like Sapna Chaudhary. He is extremely popular in the state of Haryana for delivering songs like Sandal, Mhare Gaam Ka Pani, Desi Desi Na Bolya Kar, and Selfie. He is a budding playback singer, and also works as a lyricist as well as a music director.
